    Accessibility Statement

    Effective date: 2026

A Fresher Place is committed to a site that works for everyone who needs food, built natively to WCAG 2.2 Level AA rather than patched with an overlay widget.

    Our commitment

A Fresher Place is food infrastructure for neighborhoods. If a family cannot use this site, the food does not reach them. We treat accessibility as part of the build, not a layer added at the end.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Accessibility is built natively into the site. We do not use an accessibility overlay widget, because overlays sit on top of the problem instead of fixing it.

    What we have built

Color and contrast. Body and interface text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background, and large text at least 3 to 1. Our gold and green brand colors are used for fills, borders, and badges. For text on light surfaces we use darker ink versions of those same colors.

Never color alone. Every status indicator carries text beside the colored dot, so insurance status, vetted location status, slot availability, and partner status can be read without perceiving color.

Keyboard. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, has a visible focus ring, and dialogs close with the Escape key. A Skip to content link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page.

Structure. Each page has one main heading, ordered heading levels, and semantic header, navigation, main, and footer regions so screen reader users can jump straight to the content.

Route changes. When you move to a new page, focus moves to the new page heading instead of staying where the old page left off.

Motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, we turn off scroll reveals, pulsing indicators, transitions, and smooth scrolling.

Images and controls. Meaningful images carry descriptions, decorative visuals are hidden from screen readers, and icon-only controls such as menu, close, copy, and map carry names.

Language. The page language is declared, and it updates when you switch the site language so screen readers pronounce content correctly.

Touch targets. Tap targets on phones are at least 44 by 44 pixels, and the sticky header and bottom tab bar never cover the element you are on.

    How we test

We run automated checks with axe on the main family, partner, and community pages, and we lint the codebase for accessibility defects on every change. Automated tools catch roughly half of real barriers, so we also test by keyboard alone and review contrast by hand.

Known limits. Some content is supplied by partners, farms, and community contributors, including photos and stories. We prompt contributors for descriptions but cannot guarantee every partner-supplied image or document is fully described. Interactive maps are supported by text lists of the same pickup locations, so no information is available only on the map.

    Tell us what is broken

If any part of this site blocks you, email hello@afresherplace.com with the page address and what happened. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, aim to reply within five business days, and will give you the information or complete the task another way in the meantime.

You can also use the Feedback button in the corner of every page, or the feedback form, whichever is easier for you.
